Proposal for Extension to Revalidation of the MRes Creative Practices Programme at The Glasgow School of Art

Cover Sheet

Brief description of the paper

The attached paper is a report from the Head of the School of Fine Art at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) requesting an extension to the validation of the MRes Creative Practices programme until session 2017-18.

The MRes Creative Practices programme was scheduled for revalidation during 2016-17 as it previously reported through the now defunct Inter-School Board of Studies. Consideration and approval of programme revalidation is part of the Periodic Review process. The School of Fine Art which took the MRes Creative Practices programme into its Board structure at the beginning of 2015-16 does not undergo Periodic Review until 2017-18.

In view of the above, the Academic Council of GSA has recommended that Academic Standards Committee (ASC) approve an extension to the validation of the MRes Creative Practices programme until session 2017-18.

The Academic Council of GSA has received assurance from the Head of the School of Fine Art that the request to extend the validation of the programme for a further year will pose no risk to the quality of the provision.
