The Glasgow School of Art: Report on Re/validations 2010/11

Brief description of the paper 

The attached paper contains information on the programmes validated (or revalidated) by The Glasgow School of Art during session 2010-2011. The table outlines the number of conditions or recommendations set in each case. The relevant re/validation reports are also attached.

The Joint MSc in Product Design Engineering was validated by GSA in March 2011. Further ratification by the School of Engineering is scheduled for June 2011.

Action Requested 

ASC is asked to note the attached reports and approve the recommendation that the programmes outlined be re/validated as awards of the University of Glasgow for a six year period commencing 1 September, 2011 subject to the conditions and recommendations outlined being met.

ASC is also asked to note the proposed new Joint MSc in Product Design Engineering and approve the proposal that, on this occasion, the Convener be permitted to consider approval of the programme under summer powers. The outcome will be reported to ASC in October 2011.

Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward 

The Programme Team will implement any conditions and recommendations.

Resource implications 

The University receives validation fees for validated provision which includes a per capita fee for students on validated programmes.

Timescale for Implementation 

Programmes will commence in September 2011.

GSA has an established equality policy in place.
