Brief description of the paper 

The attached paper is an update on, and proposal for, the amendment of the scope of the new programme approval (validation) process for The Glasgow School of Art approved by Academic Standards Committee (ASC) at its meeting in May 2017.

This paper recommends new arrangements to extend the scope of the process.

Action Requested 

Academic Standards Committee (ASC) is asked to approve the proposal to extend the scope of the programme approval (validation) process for The Glasgow School of Art to cover:

  1. The revalidation of existing programmes at GSA;
  2. Extensions to the validation of existing programmes at GSA; and
  3. Validation/revalidation of, and major programme amendment proposals in respect of, programmes run jointly between UoG and GSA.
Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward 

The Glasgow School of Art in liaison with the University’s Academic Collaborations Office.
