Brief description of the paper 

The attached paper is the Report from the Periodic Review (2017/18) of the School of Fine Art held in March 2018 at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA).

The Review Panel agreed that all conditions should be addressed prior to the start of session 2018-19. The conditions, none of which impact on the running of the programmes, do not affect the revalidation of the programmes (see sections 6.5 and 7.2 of the report).

Action Requested 

Academic Standards Committee is asked to approve the recommendation from GSA Academic Council that the following programmes are revalidated for a period of six years, commencing in September 2018:

  • Master of Fine Art
  • MLitt Curatorial Practice (Contemporary Art)
  • MLitt Fine Art Practice
  • MRes Creative Practices
  • BA (Honours) Fine Art
  • NB - the MLitt Art Writing programme was previously validated by ASC for a period of six years commencing in 2018-19, subject to the completion of a satisfactory Service Teaching Agreement between the two institutions.

ASC is asked to note the remainder of the report.

Timescale for Implementation 

The revalidation/validation of the above programmes will take effect from September 2018.
