Cover Sheet

Mrs Catherine Omand, Senate Office

Brief description of the paper

At its meeting on 19 May 2017, the Academic Standards Committee received the Report of Periodic Subject Review of Information Studies (formally HATII). The recommendations contained within the report were approved for onward transmission to those identified for action. This report details the responses and the progress made to date in implementing the recommendations.

The Convener considers that the Panel’s recommendations have been, as far as possible, given full and appropriate consideration.

Action Requested

Academic Standards Committee is asked to consider the adequacy of the responses and the progress made. The Convener of the Review would like to particularly draw ASC’s attention to the responses given to Recommendations 12 and 13. In respect of Recommendation 12, would ASC like the Senate Office to approach Human Resources to respond to the concerns raised in relation to PPR? With regard to the response to Recommendation 13, at the time of the Review, GTA training had only been undertaken by Learning Enhancement and Academic Services whilst local support had been on an ad hoc basis. I am therefore pleased to note that both School and Subject now provide training.

Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward

See report.

Resource implications

No direct resource implications have been identified.

Timescale for Implementation

As outlined.

Equality implications

No specific implications identified, although the School should continue to embed consideration of equality and diversity in all its procedures and provision.
