Brief description of the paper

BDes (Hons) Sound for the Moving Image

BSc (Hons) Immersive Systems Design

Following approval by the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Committee (UPC) at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA), Academic Standards Committee (ASC) at its meeting on 27 January 2017 approved the validation of the BDes (Hons) Sound for the Moving Image and the BSc (Hons) Immersive Systems Design programmes at GSA, for a period of six years commencing in September 2018.

UPC, at its May 2016 approval meeting, made several recommendations with regard to both programmes and asked that a report on progress against the recommendations be made to relevant GSA committees within twelve months. The enclosed paper is an extract from the relevant Programme Approval report and outlines the progress made by the Programme Team in addressing the recommendations.

Action Requested

Academic Standards Committee is asked to note the actions taken in respect of the recommendations.

Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward

GSA.

Resource implications

No resource implications have been identified for the University.

Timescale for Implementation

As outlined in the paper.

Equality implications

Equality considerations and equality impact assessment are embedded and mainstreamed at GSA. The School of Simulation and Visualisation considered that the equality issues for both the BDes (Hons) Sound for the Moving Image and the BSc (Hons) Immersive Systems Design were similar in nature and therefore a joint Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) was undertaken in May 2017. The EIA outlines clearly the actions, taken or planned, by the School to ensure positive impact for all protected characteristic groups.
