Cover Sheet

Brief description of the paper

This paper outlines proposed changes to the programme and course approval (validation) procedures for The Glasgow School of Art (GSA). The proposal reflects the changes which have been implemented to the University’s programme approval procedures as supported by ASC at its meeting on 17 April 2015 and acknowledges the maturity of the partnership with GSA. These changes form one element of the work associated with streamlining the administrative processes between the two institutions.

Action Requested

Academic Standards Committee is asked to approve the proposals for amendments to the programme and course approval (validation) procedures for The Glasgow School of Art.

Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward

GSA Registry and UoG Academic Collaborations Office.

Resource implications

There will be a positive impact on the staff resources at both UoG and GSA - the level of ACO support required for the increased number of proposals being submitted by GSA (in line with its strategy to increase the student body by 25% in the period 2015-18) and the staff resource at GSA associated with the submission of the documentation for ASC consideration. In addition, ASC resource associated with the consideration of the GSA proposals will be reduced.

Timescale for Implementation

Session 2017-18.

Equality implications

GSA has an Equality & Diversity policy in place.
