The attached is the Report from the meeting of the Joint Board with the University and Edinburgh Theological Seminary (ETS) held on 23 November 2016.

This report would normally have been considered by an earlier meeting of the ASC. The timeline for completion of future reports is being reviewed to ensure earlier submission.

Academic Standards Committee is asked to approve:

• the Membership and Remit of the Joint Board for 2016-17 (Appendix 1);

The Clerk has noted that at the ASC meeting held on 24 March 2017, it was recorded that the terminology to be used for members of staff at Validated Institutions should be ‘Associate University Lecturers’ rather than Associate University Teachers’. An amendment will be made to the remit (item 6c) to change the word ‘teachers’ to ‘lecturers’, this amendment will be considered at the next Joint Board meeting.

• Statement of Intent for the proposed introduction of the taught Master of Theology in Missiology, due to commence in September 2018 (Appendix 2);
