Cover Sheet

Brief description of the paper

Academic Standards Committee (ASC), at its November 2016 meeting, approved the validation of a new pathway (Performance) for the MLitt Fine Art Practice at the Glasgow School of Art for introduction in September 2017. However, given the nature of the new pathway, ASC sought clarification from GSA that equality implications had been considered in GSA’s approval process.

GSA has provided the following two documents to confirm that it has taken account of equality considerations as part of its approval process:

  1. Minutes of the meeting of the GSA Undergraduate and Postgraduate Committee (Programme Approval) held on 21 September 2016 (see minute 1.10); and
  2. An update regarding equalities considerations from the MLitt Fine Art Practice Programme Leader (see paragraph 4).

The documents confirm that consultations have been held with the Head of Student Support and Development regarding equality considerations and that an equality impact assessment of the Performance pathway will be finalised by the end of session 2016/17.

ASC is asked to note the above points of clarification which have been provided in respect of ASC’s request for further information regarding the validation of the new pathway (Performance) for the MLitt Fine Art Practice at the Glasgow School of Art.
