Brief description of the paper 

The attached paper is an update on the recommendations from the Periodic Review of the Mackintosh School of Architecture (MSA) held in February 2015 at The Glasgow School of Art (GSA).

ASC should note that GSA has advised that a strategy paper has been completed but discussions with the Director and other Heads are continuing with respect to the recommendations below (see attached paper, No 4a and 4b):-

  • Recommendation 4a – The Review Panel acknowledged that MSA were engaged with students’ concerns regarding centralised workshop provision, but recommended that MSA put a plan in place to engage further with the Technical Support department regarding supporting students in the management of resource; and
  • Recommendation 4b - The Registrar had informed the Review panel of the likelihood of a review of Technical Support provision at GSA. In light of this, the Review Panel recommended that MSA fully engage with this process.

Academic Standards Committee (ASC) is asked to consider the actions taken in respect of the recommendations from the Periodic Review of the MSA held in February 2015 at The Glasgow School of Art (see attached paper.)
