Periodic Subject Review: Responses to the Periodic Subject Review of Economics held on 19 and 20 March 2015

Brief description of the paper 

Under Summer Powers, the Academic Standards Committee received the Report of Periodic Subject Review of Economics. The recommendations contained within the report were approved for onward transmission to those identified for action. This report details the responses and the progress made to date in implementing the recommendations.

Action Requested 

The Convener has reviewed the considered and detailed responses given by the Subject. The Convener was particularly pleased to note the progress made under Recommendation 2, in particular, the introduction of the dissertation fair which is considered good practice. In relation to Recommendation 3, a further review of all undergraduate assessment is to be undertaken and Academic Standards Committee may wish to receive a further update on this in due course. ASC’s attention is also drawn to Recommendation 9 and whether an update from the School should be sought in relation to GTA office hours.

ASC is asked to consider the adequacy of the responses and the progress made.
