Brief description of the paper

This paper contains a report of SRUC’s responses to conditions relating to the validation of the MSc/PgDip/PgCert in Agricultural Professional Practice.

The programme validation meeting was held at SRUC on 1st April 2015. The validation report was sent to the University in May and validation was approved by the Academic Standards Committee at its May meeting (ASC/2014/72.1).

SRUC’s development team’s report (copy attached) on its responses to the validation conditions and recommendations was considered in June 2015 by SRUC’s Academic Board. The Board was content that the conditions of validation had been adequately addressed by the team.

The team’s responses to the nine advisory recommendation of the panel were also considered to be appropriate, with two exceptions. The development team were asked to amend the report and the definitive document as necessary:

  • Recommendation c): The development of learning materials to allow completion of all modules at a distance should be clearly considered as part of the five-year development plan which was included in response to recommendation d)
  • Recommendation g): The programme framework should be amended to make clear that only a single ‘Additional Elective’ (15 credits) could be included in the programme of study.

These changes have been made and approved by the Academic Development Manager HE.
