Cover Sheet

Brief description of the paper

At its meeting on 21 May 2015, Academic Standards Committee received the updated responses to Recommendations 2 and 4 arising from the Review of Open Studies. ASC was satisfied with the response to Recommendation 2 which outlined the establishment of the Centre’s Learning & Teaching Committee and the Board of Studies. A further update was requested for Recommendation 4 regarding the timescale for the refurbishment of the Art Room to the October meeting of ASC.

In addition, at its meeting in April 2015, ASC had also requested updates on the following:

  • Recommendation 6: progress of the Centre’s plans to implement an off-the-shelf online enrolment system for session 2015-16. (joint response from MyCampus team)
  • Recommendation 7: reconstitution of the Strategy Advisory Group.
  • Recommendation 15: reconfiguration of existing GTA accommodation.
  • Recommendation 17: relocation to the main campus of the University. (response sought from Secretary of Court)
Action Requested

Academic Standards Committee is asked to consider the adequacy of the responses and the progress made. Recommendations 5, 6, 15 appear to be adequately addressed. However, attention is drawn to Recommendations 4, 7 and 17 which have still to be concluded.

Recommendations 4 and 17 address accommodation issues that are unlikely to be concluded in the short term. It is recommended that ASC request that the Centre continue to pursue these matters and report progress at the next PSR visit.

With regard to recommendation 7 concerning the Strategy Advisory Group, it is recommended that ASC requests a further update in approximately 3 months.
