Brief description of the paper 

Draft Report of a review of the course and programme approval process.

The report recommends shortening and simplification of the approval process. It notes and makes recommendations concerning the associated information and supporting IT systems.

Action Requested 

Academic Standards Committee is asked to consider and endorse the report for onward transmission to Learning & Teaching Committee, and EdPSC.

Resource implications 
  1. Development of revised guidance and training materials, revisions to Specifications, committee remits and memberships, monitoring of process changes.
  2. Amendment of PIP to accommodate recommended process changes.
  3. Consideration of adoption of MyCampus as the support for the approval process.
  4. Depending on 3, substantial adaptation of PIP.
Timescale for Implementation 

Some interim changes for 2015-16, piloting of substantial process changes in 2016-17, with full adoption in 2017-18. 3-5-years for IT development if MyCampus is adopted as vehicle for the approval process.
