Cover Sheet

Ms Fiona Dick, Senior Academic Policy Manager

Brief description of the paper

Academic Standards Committee noted at 4 October 2013 meeting that the Report of Periodic Subject Review of Politics had been approved through Summer Powers. The recommendations contained within the report were approved for onward transmission to those identified for action. This report details the responses and the progress made to date in implementing the recommendations.

As the Convener of the Panel, Professor Steve Beaumont, had now moved to another role, Professor Frank Coton had been invited to comment on the College, School and Subject responses. Professor Coton considers that the Panel’s recommendations have been, mainly, given full and appropriate consideration. However, with regard to recommendation 3, the Convenor would like to bring to the attention of ASC his concerns regarding the issue of teaching space which is a serious problem and requires monitoring.

A further update on progress in relation to recommendation 3 is requested in six months.
