Brief description of the paper

This paper contains a report of SRUC’s responses to conditions relating to the revalidation of programmes in the subject group Applied Science and Technology incorporating revalidation of:

  • BSc Applied Animal Science
  • BSc Agricultural Bioscience [formerly BSc Applied Bioscience]
  • BSc Green Technology

The above programmes were revalidated in February 2014 as part of SRUC’s institution-led subject review The review and revalidation report was sent to the University in May 2014 and validation was approved by the Academic Standards Committee at its May meeting (ASC/2014/76.2). SRUC’s programme team’s report on its response to the validation conditions and recommendations were approved in September 2014 by members of SRUC’s Education Divisional Management Team and noted by the Academic Board in November 2014. The conditions required the team to define a larger core (90 credits) in the honours curriculum of each degree to more clearly define the degrees and their graduates, and to enhance module descriptors to include information on the development of core skills and graduate attributes as well as greater detail on approaches to learning and teaching, and assessment methods used.
