Brief description of the paper 

Report of the ASC Programme Approval Group for the College of Arts. The Group met on 20 March 2014 to consider proposals for new programmes and major changes to existing programmes.

Action Requested 

ASC is requested to note the observations of the Programme Approval Group and to confirm its recommendations.

The PAG recommends the following programmes subject to the satisfactory outcome of actions identified in the report:

BMus Honours / MA Honours Music (Joint) / MA Honours Music (Single) - Major Change

MA Honours Comparative Literature (Joint) - Major Change

MA (Ancient Studies) - Major Change

MA (Historical Studies) - Major Change

MA (Linguistic Studies) - Major Change

MA (Literary Studies) - Major Change

MA (Philosophical Studies) - Major Change

MA (Scottish Studies) - Major Change

MA (Theology & Religious Studies) - Major Change

MLitt in Ancient Culture - New

MLitt in Art History: The Renaissance in Northern Europe & Italy - New

MLitt in Curatorial Practice (Contemporary Art) - New

MMus Sonic Arts - New

MSc Art History: Art in Germany / MA: Kunst in Deutschland (double Masters Programme with University of Bonn) - New

MSc in Gender History - New

MSc in Values Based Practice: Faith Communities - New

MSc in Values Based Practice: Health and Social Care - New

MSc in Values Based Practice: Peacebuilding - New

The PAG cannot recommend approval of the following programmes at present:

MA (European Culture & Civilisation - New

MA Honours Portuguese (Joint) - New

Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward 

Actions requested will be taken forward by College administrative staff and progress monitored by the Clerk of the Programme Approval Group.
