The paper is a report from a recent meeting held to discuss the update exercise required for course specification data on learning & teaching methods and assessment methods.

Academic Standards Committee is invited to note the two options agreed for Colleges to select as a methodology for updating this data in all course specifications.

ASC is also invited to consider and comment on the two issues highlighted in the report relating to:

1. concerns that the annual review and update process for the publication of the online course catalogue was not being rigorously followed in many areas;
2. the suggested need for a review of the course approval process to consider the categorisation of different types of changes to course specifications - corrections, updates, minor changes, major changes, with consideration of identifying types of changes which could be approved independently at School level.

Senate Office will co-ordinate any actions arising from the paper.
