The Glasgow School of Art - Statement of Intent for the MSc Visualisation

Brief description of the paper 

The attached papers relate to a proposed MSc Visualisation to be offered by The Glasgow School of Art (GSA). GSA offers programmes that are validated by the University.

The proposed programmes would, if approved, become awards of the University. The proposed programme offers three pathways, one of which, the MSc in Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy, has already been approved by the University and has been offered as a joint programme of GSA and the University since 2011-2012. It is proposed that this approved award become one of three pathways, namely:

MSc Visualisation (International Heritage)

MSc Visualisation (Medical Visualisation & Human Anatomy) – joint programme

MSc Visualisation (Serious Games) all of which would come under a named award of MSc Visualisation. The following papers are attached:

  1. The minute extract from GSA’s Academic Council approving the Statement of Intent to come forward to the Committee for approval;
  2. A covering note suggesting that validation of the programme take place as part of the Periodic Review of the Digital Design Studio at GSA that is scheduled to take place in 2012-2013;
  3. The Statement of Intent for the proposed programme.
Action Requested 

The Committee is asked:

  1. To consider the viability of the validation event for the programme occurring as part of the broader Periodic Review of the Digital Design studio;
  2. To approve the programme, as outlined in the Statement of Intent, for validation in 2013, to commence in September 2013, subject to any conditions being met.
