Brief description of the paper 

Report of the ASC Programme Approval Group for the College of Medical Veterinary and Life Sciences. The Group met on 22 March 2012 to consider proposals for new programmes and major changes to existing programmes.

Action Requested 

ASC is requested to note the observations of the Programme Approval Group and to confirm its recommendations.

The PAG recommends the following programmes subject to the satisfactory outcome of actions identified in the report. An update will be given to ASC in May on whether approval can be confirmed.

Bachelor of Nursing - Major Change

BSc (MedSci/DentSci) Clinical Medicine - Major Change

BVMS - Major Change

MSc Global Mental Health - New

MSc Health Technology Assessment - New

MSc (DentSci) Endodontics - New

PgDip Health Technology Assessment - New

MSc Applied Medical Science (with specialisation in Diagnostics) - Major Change

MSc/PgDip Quantitative Methods in Biodiversity, Conservation and Epidemiology - Major Change

MSc (MedSci) Forensic Toxicology (Distance Learning) - Major Change

PgCert Advanced Lymphoedema management - Major Change

PgDip Child Health - Major Change

For the following proposed programmes the PAG was currently unable to recommend approval for reasons identified in the report. The issues of concern will be taken up with the College and an update will be given to ASC in May on whether approval can be recommended.

MRes Biomedical Sciences (Cancer Studies) - Major Change

MRes Biomedical Sciences (Cardiovascular Studies) - Major Change

Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward 

Actions requested will be taken forward by College administrative staff and progress monitored by the Clerk of the Programme Approval Group.
