Brief description of the paper 

At its meeting on 28 May 2010, the Academic Standards Committee received the Report of the Review of Departmental Programmes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment of the Department of History of Art held on 5 February 2010. The recommendations contained within the report were approved for onward transmission to those identified for action. This report details the responses and the progress made to date in implementing the recommendations.

As the Convener of the Panel has now retired, the report has been considered by the Vice Principal (Learning & Teaching)

Action Requested 

ASC is asked to confirm the adequacy of the responses and the progress made. ASC is also asked to:

  • Specifically consider the adequacy of the response to recommendation 7.
  • Note that recommendations 13 and 15 have not yet been actioned and this should be done by the subject with a follow-up report to ASC.
  • Note that different approaches are being suggested by the Head of Subject for recommendations 12 and 16. ASC should specifically consider how best to ensure that these approaches are effective. In particular, in the case of recommendation 16, the subject should demonstrate how communication mechanisms are being improved.
Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward 

The Senate Office will seek a further update to a timescale agreed by ASC, if this action is agreed.
