Brief description of the paper 

Report of the ASC Programme Approval Group for the College of Social Sciences. The Group met on 9 May 2011 to consider proposals for new programmes and major changes to existing programmes.

Action Requested 

ASC is requested to note the observations of the Programme Approval Group and to confirm its recommendations.

The PAG recommended each of the following programmes subject to the satisfactory outcome of actions identified in the report.

LLM Intellectual Property and Digital Economy - New

LLM International Law and Security - New

Master of Public Administration - New

MSc Drug and Alcohol Studies - New

MSc Global Economy - New

MSc International Business and Economic Development - New

MSc International Management and Design Innovation - New

MSc International Management and Leadership - New

MSc International Strategic Marketing - New

MSc Management with Enterprise and Business Growth - New

MSc Management with Human Resources - New

MEd Professional Practice in Higher Education/Diploma in Academic Practice - Change

MSc International Business and Entrepreneurship - Change

MSc Management/Management with International Finance/Management with International Real Estate - Change

For the following proposed programmes the PAG was currently unable to recommend approval for reasons identified in the report. The issues of concern will be taken up with the College before approval can be recommended.

MRes/MSc Global Security - New

MSc Chinese Studies - New

MSc Global Health - New

MSc Transnational Crime, Justice and Security - New

Recommended Person/s responsible for taking action(s) forward 

Actions requested will be taken forward by College administrative staff and progress monitored by the Clerk of the Programme Approval Group.
