Brief description of the paper 

The attached Report is from the University of Glasgow and the Scottish Agricultural College Liaison Committee meeting of 22 November 2010. There are matters for approval, noting and information as follows:

For Approval:

  • The Remit and Membership of the Liaison Committee for 2010-11, Appendix 1;
  • Statement of Intent for BSc/BSc (Hons) Garden Design, Appendix 2;
  • Statement of Intent for PGCert/PGDip/MSc programmes in Rural Business Management, Appendix 3.

For Noting:

Minor changes to programmes (approved during Summer Powers) included:

  • BSc/BSc(Hons) Green Technology: A new elective module (Sustainable Engineering and Architecture, SCQF level 10) was added in applied engineering to the Honours year.
  • BSc(Hons) Applied Animal Science: The following elective modules be added to the programme framework:

Year 2 - Animal Behaviour, Animal Biology, Wildlife Management, Equine Studies: Equine Health (the Year 2 modules were existing validated SQA HN Units).

Year 3 - Parasitology and Year 4 - Equine Nutrition and Grazing Management

  • BA (Hons) Rural Business Management: The title of the Year 3 module Economics Analysis for Business Decisions be changed to Economic Policy and Analysis.
  • A Statement of Intent to be submitted to a future meeting of ASC for one new programme.

For information:

  • Report on various matters relating to External Examiners' reports, estates developments and strategic developments for SAC, in particular the consideration of taught degree awarding powers and University College title.
