Cover Sheet

Brief description of the paper

The Scottish Agricultural College (SAC), a validated institution of the University of Glasgow, has submitted a proposal to admit University of Edinburgh Veterinary students (BVM&S) to the honours year of their BSc Applied Animal Science programme for the purposes of undertaking an intercalated degree. Subject to satisfactory results, the students would be awarded with the honours BSc Applied Animal Science award. The attached paper outlines the proposal in more detail.

Before submitting this request, staff at SAC undertook a detailed review of the curriculum of the Edinburgh degree. They are assured that the first three years of the degree is suitable preparation for the fourth year of study on the BSc Applied Animal Science programme. The proposed arrangement fully complies with the principle of intercalation which is currently in operation within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow. Informal discussion with relevant staff within the Faculty has confirmed that there are no concerns with the proposed arrangement.

Action Requested
