Brief description of the paper 

The attached paper from Dr Craig Williamson, recently appointed Head of Academic and Student Services at the Glasgow School of Art (GSA), seeks agreement for a number of scheduled validation and revalidation events to be held in June 2010. A Statement of Intent for the new BDes Fashion and Textiles programme, the subject of the validation event scheduled for 15 June 2010 is also provided, as well as an excerpt from the 10 June 2009 meeting of GSA’s Academic Council which approved this development.

Action Requested 
  1. Academic Standards Committee is asked to give its in-principle approval for the new B Des Fashion and Textiles programme which is due for validation on 15 June 2010. Note: The Statement of Intent outlining the suite of M Des programmes being considered at the event on 14 June 2010 was approved by Academic Standards on 29 May 2009 [Paper ASC 08/87].
  2. ASC is asked to approve the proposal that, on this occasion, given the resource difficulties recently experienced by GSA, the Convener be permitted to consider the reports from the re/validation events outlined under summer powers.
