Brief description of the paper

Report from the Academic Regulations Sub-Committee in relation to

• the approval process in relation to the weighting of assessment components, and
• implications of the proposed removal of Schedule C from the Code of Assessment.

Action Requested

ASC is requested to

1. Confirm that where proposed assessment weightings vary from the distribution of credits across component courses of a programme, this be dealt with by the relevant Programme Approval Group on a case by case basis.
2. Approve the proposal for substituting Weighted Average Aggregation Scores for Grade Points in the Code of Assessment, and give guidance on the overall tariff to be developed.

The Senate Office will co-ordinate action with the Convener of Academic Regulations Sub-Committee.

Timescale for Implementation

The removal of Schedule C from Code of Assessment is anticipated to be implemented in the University Calendar for session 2011-12.
