Brief description of the paper

At its meeting on 30 May 2008, the Academic Standards Committee received the Report of the Review of Departmental Programmes of Teaching, Learning and Assessment of the Department of History held on 20 February 2008. The recommendations contained within the report were approved for onward transmission to those identified for action. This report details the responses and the progress made to date in implementing the recommendations.

The report has been considered by the Convener of the Review Panel, who is satisfied that the Panel’s recommendations have been given full and appropriate consideration and draws particular attention to the following point:

  • Recommendation 6 – with regard to the Department’s experience of using Turnitin, the Department should communicate its findings with the Learning and Teaching Centre and any other relevant bodies. A report to Faculty might also be helpful in promoting discussion across the Departments.

There are no further recommendations.

Action Requested

Academic Standards Committee is requested to consider the adequacy of the responses and the progress made.
